The general situation of the project

Fine breed pig farm in Pingliang area was built in 1970. It is located at Xialie river in the west of the city. That has a distance of 10 kilometers from the Pingliang city (1280 kilometers from national road 312). It is an institution belonging to agricultural and pastoral department of Pingliang administrative office.

Norm subsidy and business management have been practiced in the pig farm. Mountains and water surround the farm that is far from village surrounded by good field with an elevation of 1510 meters. The annual rainfall is above 500micrometers. The annual average temperature is 8.6oC. The annual average total sunshine time is 2424 hours. The frost-free period is 160days. The installation of water, power is complete. The condition of irrigation and epidemic prevention is fine. The traffic is convenient. The varieties of the drinking raw materials are enough and the resource of that is large around the area, especially corn, red and purple flower alfalfa. The materials are in good quality and plenty amount. It is a ideal breeding field. The farm takes up land of 108 mu, which includes cultivated land of 65 mu. The building area is 5900 square meters. The pig shed area is 2846 square meters. At present there are 15staff and workers, which includes 3 technicians and 12 technical workers. It was ever breeding core farm of “Gansu Black Pig” which belonged to the project of tackling key problems in the period of “Nine-Five” in Gansu province. The lean meat rate of “Gansu Black Pig” has achieved 56 percent. “Gansu Black Pig” has been warmly recieved by the customers of the east of Gansu, Ningxia and Shanxi because of its multi-farrowing, strong adaptability, fresh and tender meat and good hybrid effect. It has a better market potentiality.
